Carer Representation on West London Mental Health Transformation Board

THIS IS A PAID OPPORTUNITY

West London Mental Health are looking for one carer representative and one alternate from local services (adult) to sit on the Transformation Board.

The Transformation Board meets at Armstrong Way every 6 weeks and they we would like to have representatives in place for the next meeting on Fri 5 December 2014.

“The West London Transformation Board is an integrated Board, comprising CCG clinical and commissioning leads, WLMHT clinical and management leads, Local Authority representatives, Service Users and Carers, Third Sector representatives, NWL Strategy and Transformation representatives and Trust Staff.  There are work streams that report to the Transformation Board that are responsible for ensuring that the changes are implemented. 

 A role of the Transformation Board is to oversee and support delivery of the Work Stream Delivery Groups’ (WSDG) agendas and action plans.”

Consultation events for people with long-term medical conditions

The local West London NHS Commissioning Groups are holding events for people with long-term conditions like diabetes, dementia, chronic heart disease (CHD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); this will help the NHS to design a better way to help people manage their own care.

They are also asking carers, voluntary and community groups, and health and social care professionals to join them.

There is one event in each of the 3 boroughs, but anyone can attend any event.

Free lunch will be provided

Expert Patient Carers FREE Self management Health Course

Expert Patient Carers FREE Self management Health Course

The Expert Patient Service provides self-management courses for people and carers living with long-term health conditions; such as heart disease, diabetes, depression, asthma, high arthritis, blood pressure, cancer, or any other condition.

The course is open to people who live in Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and & Chelsea or Westminster (or are registered with a GP in the area)

The course lasts for six weeks, with a weekly meeting of 2.5 hours and covers  healthy lifestyle advice, action planning, managing stress, pain and fatigue, weight management, relaxation techniques and better communication with family and friends and health professionals.

 All participants receive a free self-management book, a certificate of completion and more importantly have the opportunity to meet other people with similar conditions or experiences.

Our next courses is aimed at Carers, living in the above boroughs or registered with a GP in those areas.  Our next courses are at:

Westminster Digital Champions is a new service designed to increase levels of digital inclusion in the borough so that everyone feels able and comfortable using technology to communicate, apply for work and manage their finances online. The service uses volunteers, who are trained and provided with training resources, to provide one-to-one support to digitally excluded residents.

The Westminster Parent Participation Group

The Westminster Parent Participation Group (WPPG) is made up of a group of parents of children with disabilities in Westminster.

They meet every Thursday at LDN Living Harrow Road (Opposite Iceland) from 10am – 12pm to share ideas and to inform service providers of services for children with disabilities and special needs about their experiences.

The WPPG membership is for:

  • Parents/carers of Children with learning/and or health problems (0-18)
  • Parents/carers of adults with learning disabilities (18+)

Consultation opens on Never Events Policy Framework

An NHS England consultation has opened to gather opinions and feedback on proposed changes to the Never Events Policy Framework. This framework is being reviewed to ensure it remains relevant and up-to-date and to address feedback from NHS providers and commissioners on a number of uncertainties around the existing document.

The consultation will be open until 31 October.
