Singing for the Brain

New H&F Dementia Carers Support Group

Come to 5 sessions to learn about and understand dementia, ask questions, support each other and take better care of yourself.

Group launches on Weds 31 Jan at St Vincent’s House, W6 9QH, 10:30am-12pm.

Session Plan:

  • Session 1, Weds 31 Jan 2018: About Dementia
  • Session 2, Weds 21 Feb 2018: Practical tips
  • Session 3, Weds 21 March 2018:  Ask the experts
  • Session 4, Weds 18 April 2018: Coping with difficult behaviour
  • Session 5, Weds 16 May 2018: Support for carers

All groups meet from 10:30am-12pm at St Vincent’s House, 49 Queen Caroline Street, W6 9QH

The group is a partnership between Carers Network and the Hammersmith & Fulham Cognitive Impairment and Dementia Service (CIDS).

Singing for the Brain

Singing for the Brain sessions in Kensington start on 16th May and run every Tuesday for 12 weeks (except 11th July) at St. Peter’s Church Kensington Park Road, W11 2PN (Opposite Stanley Gardens) from 3pm – 5pm.

People with dementia and their carers from Hammersmith & Fulham, Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea are welcome to come.

Hidden in the fun are activities which build on the well-known preserved memory for song and music in the brain.

Tuesday 14 Feb 1.30-3.30pm: Sporting Reminiscence Session at Lord’s, free to attend but booking is essential, to book call Yvonne on 0207 616 8589, Lord’s Cricket Ground, Grace Entrance, St. John’s Wood Road, NW8 8QN.

Monday 20 February 11am – 12.30pm: In Mind session at Royal Academy of Arts Contact 020 7300 5839 or events.lectures@royalacademy.org.uk Tea and conversation about art works at Burlington House, Piccadilly, £3 (free to RA Friends, carers & companions).

Wednesday February 22 2.30pm-4.30pm: Westminster Memory Café North: make a fridge magnet to stick your list to the fridge with Westminster Arts’ Resonate programme,  at 42 Westbourne Park Road, W2 5PH. Free, no need to book, just turn up. For info call Terezie on 07540 502379
