There is an opportunity for carers, service users and members of the public to get involved in the commissioning of health research on behalf of the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) by joining their committees.
NIHR committees usually have approximately 20 members, which include at least 2 public members.
These committees assess health and social care research proposals which are applying for funding from the Government and research briefs that describe a potential area of research. They are funded by the Department of Health and Social Care to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research.
NIHR are looking for patients, carers, service users and members of the public who have never had a professional role in health and social care services or research.
An attendance fee as well as expenses is provided.
