Carers Network had a huge turn out at the first event for Carers Week 2014. We kick started the week with a pampering and health event called ‘Take Care of Yourself Day and Information Fair’. As well as useful information stands, carers from Westminster were treated to taster sessions including, hand therapy courtesy of Lush Cosmetics, reflexology, head & back massage. Carer and volunteer Phydellis Rochester, whizzed up a range of nutritious and delicious home made smoothies, whilst community therapist Christene Burgess taught carers how to relax and meditate using mindfulness techniques, all within the tranquil surroundings of the prestigious Ocean Room at the Cumberland Hotel. Carers Network would like to thank all the carers in attendance. We’d also like to thank the following people and organisations: Cllr Rachael Robathan, Bernadette Jennings, Westminster Society, Abbey Centre, Westminster IAPT Psychology Service, DWP, Westminster City Council Campaigns Team, North Westminster Drug & Alcohol Service, Westminster Carers Time Bank, Advocacy Plus (Older People Service), Open Age, Nextdoor Project, Spurgeons, Mindfulness Meditation, Macmillian Cancer Care and Munro Health Co-op.
