The Reader’s Shared Reading groups bring people together and books to life

What is Shared Reading?

  • Shared Reading brings great books, poems and plays to life through reading aloud and group discussion
  • Thousands of people now get together each week to enjoy and experience literature through Shared Reading
  • Groups are free and open to all, normally last an hour or an hour and a half, and run every week in local community spaces
  • You’ll get a warm welcome from your local Reader Leader, something specially chosen to read – or listen to – and stimulating conversation

Since 2008, The Reader has pioneered the use of Shared Reading to improve well-being, reduce social isolation and build resilience in diverse communities across the UK and beyond.

The Reader runs Shared Reading groups in H&F and K&C.
