Silver Sunday was set up three years ago to provide a National day of free events and activities for older people in order to try and do something about the loneliness and isolation suffered by a third of the older population.
Silver Sunday 2014 was a tremendous success, with almost 400 different events taking place across the country.
Thousands of people were able to get out of their homes, attend a special event and gain the opportunity to make new friends and connections.
It is now only two months to go until Silver Sunday 2015!
Please visit www.silversunday.org.uk to see events already arranged for this year.
Many charities, museums and other organisations have already promised that they will be hosting an event.
This year they are also asking children via their schools to get involved. They have taken some wonderful footage of children’s idea of what they think older people would like to be doing and they will be shortly putting these up on the website; as there already is a Mother’s day, and a Father’s day – why not a special day for Older People – Silver Sunday?
There are many ways to help – for instance: supporting them on their website; organising events in your local community.
