This week is week 4 of Older People’s month on People First and they’re looking at opportunities for older residents to get out and about and stay active in the local community.
- Volunteering is a great way of getting involved and staying active. You may be surprised at the wide range of opportunities out there, and many organisations are particularly keen to welcome older volunteers who can pass on their life experiences and wisdom to others.
Volunteers can also connect with people who are housebound and living alone.
- There’s information on the many transport options for those who want to get out and about but find it hard to do so.
- And there are details of activities, events, groups and opportunities to meet other people across all three boroughs
Being older can open up many opportunities to try new things and meet new people – on People First they’re aiming to put people in touch with the many opportunities to lead active, healthy, interesting and fun lives in older age.
